On November 10, 2023, the Redefine Asian International Schools and Education Meeting (RAISE) and the 30 years Awards Ceremony of International School in China was held in Hong Kong, China. Witnessed by nearly 500 educators from all over the world, YCIS Shanghai won the Outstanding Contribution Award(school) and YCYW won the Outstanding Contribution Award(group).
The Outstanding Contribution Award (school) is awarded to schools with a history of more than two decades and a well-established reputation for excellence within China’s international school sector. Since its establishment in 1993, YCIS Shanghai has focused on nurturing future leaders, instilling students with a global perspective, empathy, an aspiration to build a better world, and a servant’s heart. In the past 30 years, YCIS Shanghai constantly improving its curriculum system, hardware and software infrastructure, campus activities, school environment and others, to become a benchmark in the industry. Therefore, winning this award was also a recognition of the school's strengths.
Mr Tin Ip, Education Director of YCIS Shanghai, accepted the award on behalf of the school. He highlighted YCIS Shanghai's experience in harmonising Chinese and Western cultures.
According to Mr Ip, YCYW places a strong emphasis on holistic education and the school offers a remarkably comprehensive curriculum. In addition, the school has a diverse team of staff with different cultural backgrounds, fostering a school atmosphere that values international-mindedness and global citizenship. He cited YCYW's Somerset programme in the United Kingdom as an example. In the programme, students have the opportunity to broaden their horizons and mindsets through immersive learning experiences that allow them to learn about the local culture first-hand.
The faculty at YCIS Shanghai's has earned a reputation for its stability and professionalism within the international education community. Mr Ip pointed out that YCYW's multi-location education network offers teachers increased opportunities for professional development. The organisation also dedicates substantial resources to upgrading the professional skills of its staff every year.
This award is a recognition of YCIS Shanghai and the YCYW Education Network. We are deeply honoured, and take this honour as motivation to move forward. Education is endless, and YCIS Shanghai provides each student with a variety of high-quality educational service choices, aiming to cultivate global citizens with global perspectives and leadership skills.
