Our unique Western and Chinese co-leadership model attracts top educators from around the world.
At YCIS, we are all lifelong learners. The school not only supports staff in pursuing graduate-level programmes and courses, but also works with individual team members to facilitate participation in external educational conferences and training, targeted classroom observations, visits to other schools, and more. As our academic team and educators continue to grow and advance, they will in turn inspire and accelerate learning in our students.
Welcome to Yew Chung International School of Shanghai (YCIS Shanghai).
All YCIS schools share the same Mission and Vision Statement and an overall Strategic Plan which guide all areas of activity and establish the key direction, core values, and overarching policies of the schools.
Each school develops its own unique character, learning programmes, facilities, and personnel, and responds to the local needs of its community, in keeping with the Mission and Vision Statement. The responsibility for the management of the school rests with a School Leadership Team. In the case of YCIS Shanghai, the School Leadership Team consists of the Western and Chinese Co-Principals and the School Business Managers.
While the Co-Principals' primary focus is on the learning programmes, student welfare, and the leadership of the academic staff, the School Business Manager oversees non-academic areas. Together, they function as a unified team with overall responsibility for every area of school operation.
YCIS Shanghai is registered with the Ministry of Education as a School for Children of Foreign Nationals. It is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). The school is an authorised provider of the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examination by Cambridge Assessment International Education. YCIS Shanghai is authorised to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) through the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).
Our team of highly qualified teaching staff is the backbone of YCIS Shanghai’s global education.
The integration of Chinese and Western cultures across the school is achieved through our unique Co-Principal and Co-Teaching models. Qualified and experienced teachers are recruited from countries and regions around the world, including:
