At the end of last year, after a strict review process and stiff competition, YCIS Puxi Primary (Hongqiao) Campus' A-Building stood out from many outstanding projects, winning the 'Yuanye Cup' silver award under the ‘landscape’ category.
The building and surrounding features are in a limited construction area, so the design utilises a multilevel approach. The design team used contemporary elements combined with a vibrant blue theme and other lively colours throughout the entrance area, playground, basketball court, small garden, and other outside spaces. The design aims to inspire children to explore the unknown world and raise their interest in outdoor activities, absorbing them in a natural learning environment that allows them to grow happily.
The Yuanye Cup is an international competition dedicated to the most thoughtful and influential designs in landscape architecture, architecture, urban design, and environmental art. The competition has run for 11 years, and over 500 enterprises from more than 20 countries and regions have participated.
Adhering to the principle of open, fair, and impartial competition, a review committee composed of domestic and international authoritative experts preside over the proceedings. All entries go through three rounds of professional review and strict evaluation before the judges select the winning works. The strong lineup of judges and thorough selection process fully guarantee the professionalism and fairness of the competition. It is, therefore, a delight that YCIS Shanghai is the recipient of this award.
YCIS students have enjoyed learning in these fantastic new facilities since their opening in 2019, making the most of the collaborative, environmentally conscious spaces. An environment where deep and purposeful teaching and learning can take place ensures a bright future for all students and embodies the YCIS vision for the future of education.
