Yew Chung International School of Shanghai (YCIS Shanghai) students made a jubilant return to our Pudong school this week for their first days back after the summer break.
The week began with an orientation day for students and parents on Monday, as final preparations for the school year took place at both the Century Park and Regency Park campuses. New and returning students and their parents dropped by to pick up new school uniforms, meet their teachers, and have the chance to catch up with friends and classmates. At the Century Park Campus, there was a Digital Devices Workshop lead by our Technology team. There were also tours of the school campuses for new students and their parents before they went home to relax and get ready for their first day of school.
The students returned on Tuesday for their official first day of the school year. The day started for Secondary students with a welcome assembly, followed by community building events throughout the day organised for classes, year levels, and Houses. The ECE and Primary students had assemblies and then had the chance to explore the surroundings of the school. They then spent time with their classmates and Co-Teachers, getting familiar with classes, enjoying lunch, and playing outside during the intermittent dry spells.
Students and parents at our Regency Park Campus, will probably have noticed the expanded area in the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Library, new outdoor lighting for the playing field, a new Music Technology Lab, and additional classrooms to accommodate increased student demand. Students at our Century Park Campus have been enjoying shaded walks under the stunning new covered walkway between the main building, the cafeteria, gym, and theatre. They’ll also have noted the technology centre on the fourth floor, as well as the fantastic new displays in the hallways.
We are delighted to have all of our students back and look forward to another great school year at YCIS Pudong!
