Recently, YCIS Shanghai held its “Global Child Day” at the Regency Park Campus, an annual event which celebrates the cultural diversity among the school’s community. The fun day, planned by the Parent Organisation Pudong (POP), featured an assortment of performances, international food, and an array of games and activities for the whole family to enjoy.
The springtime event kicked off with the annual country flag parade – a colourful pageant of multiculturalism. Following the lead of campus Co-Principals and other members of the academic leadership team, groups of parents, students, and faculty gathered on the campus track to proudly represent their home countries.
Following the parade, 19 country-themed booths opened for the hundreds of attendees to enjoy. Visitors could travel from South Africa to Spain, India to Indonesia, Mexico to Malaysia, and the US to the UK and more in just a few short steps. Each booth, run by parents or by older students, had a fun range of games or crafts for children to partake in. At the completion of each activity, participants received a “passport” stamp as well as a delicious snack or small item representative of the country’s booth – a fantastic souvenir of their “world journey”.
