Recently, TimeOut Shanghai Family magazine ran a cover art competition where students at international schools across Shanghai could submit art depicting “the perfect school day”. Rhena, a Year 5 student at YCIS Shanghai Century Park campus, submitted her colourful piece of artwork and took home the top prize, with her art selected as the design of the magazines’ cover. In a take on the acronym of the school’s name, “Y-C-I-S”, Rhena’s complete design (featured inside the magazine) said “Yew Chung Is Spectacular.”

Mr Robert Watson, Primary Vice Principal at Regency Park and Century Park campuses, said “We were thrilled to see Rhena's work recognised by TimeOut magazine. Her artwork was a great depiction of the supportive school community and multicultural environment at YCIS, and we are proud to see one of her many talents on display in print."

Rhena’s accomplishment was celebrated by the YCIS community during a recent school assembly, during which the administration presented Rhena with a small souvenir to commemorate her achievement.
