    • We are pleased to invite you to our upcoming webinar, "When AI Meets Design: The Future of STEM Education", on 20 March from 8 p.m.

       

      This webinar will be presented by Professor Ding Junfeng, Associate Professor at the School of Design and Creativity of Tongji University. Professor Ding will explore how design-driven STE(D)M education is responding to the challenges of AI (artificial intelligence) and GPT (generative pre-trained transformer). He will focus on innovative practices in developing AI+STE(D)M curricula in an international context.

      Professor Ding Junfeng

      • Associate Professor at the School of Design and Creativity of Tongji University
      • Director of Fab Lab Laboratory; FABO | Founder of the "Digital System" Workshop
      • In collaboration with MIT, Professor Ding established the first Fablab in China, FABLAB O (FABO), at the College of Design and Innovation at Tongji University in 2013. FABO won the UNESCO Wenhui Award for Asia-Pacific Education Innovation. Professor Ding was invited by the Chinese Academy of Educational Sciences to contribute to the China STEM Education 2029 Action Plan series and was nominated as a PBL tutor for the 6th China Future School Conference.

       

      In this webinar, Professor Ding will delve into how technological innovations, such as DeepSeek, are driving the shift in education from "standardization" to "personalization". He will emphasise the importance of three skills that will be essential for success in the future: design thinking, innovation, and critical thinking. In addition, he will discuss on how various countries, such as China, the United States, and Finland, have been developing these capabilities. We hope that the webinar will provide valuable perspectives to prepare our children for a future where AI and design thinking will play a crucial role.
