I have always perceived YCIS as the most excellent international school in Shanghai and after looking at the statistics from past years, I can confidently say that my understanding was true and accurate.
Students at YCIS are known for their distinction in all areas of academics, and this is of course demonstrated by their exceptional examination results. Our International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB) students from the Class of 2019 obtained an average score of 35, achieving results five points higher than the worldwide average of 29.78 for the same year. In addition to this, the students of YCIS Shanghai have received more “Top in China” and “Top in the World” awards than any other school in mainland China. All this led YCIS to become the first and only international school based in Asia to receive the Cambridge Award for Excellence in Education. Interestingly, YCIS Shanghai also has the highest number of school days among all international schools in Shanghai.
They say that success is an iceberg, and this is true for the achievements of YCIS students, as well. Students only succeed if they work hard and perform to their fullest, but this wouldn’t be possible without the dedication and support from the teachers at YCIS.
The teachers have helped me greatly with my academics and, thanks to this, I have managed to do well in my subjects and achieve grades that I am proud of. They teach in unique, meaningful, and constructive ways that are efficient yet simple to understand, allowing us to absorb information that we would otherwise struggle to grasp. Their patience allows me and other students to understand concepts that we wouldn’t quite be able to comprehend at first, and they are never frustrated by us not comprehending what we are taught. It is evident that our teachers are devoted to teaching us from their hearts, and they genuinely want us to perform well academically. Throughout the years they have allowed us to develop in our own ways and have provided us with the tools to be the better version of ourselves.
With all this being said, I am proud to be a student at YCIS, the most excellent international school in Shanghai.
