YCIS is a friendly and tight-knit community where everyone feels like they belong and that they're supported. Walking down the hallway at school, you’d always be greeted by students and staff members with warm smiles! Whilst we are a bonded group, we welcome all of our new students with hospitality and try our best to make them feel comfortable at school. This includes an orientation program, where the new students are given a tour around the school by our Prefects, and a “buddy” program in Lower Secondary, where the new students are assigned a buddy for the first few weeks of school to ensure that they are enjoying their time at YCIS.

In addition to our warm community, we are also a school with a rigorous academic curriculum. In Primary and Lower Secondary School, students build a strong foundation in their core academic subjects, including languages, science, math, and humanities. Such a strong foundation allows YCIS students to succeed in the IGCSE and IB Diploma programmes in Upper Secondary School.

Whilst we are faced with demanding academic expectations, the school ensures that the students here have great wellbeing and feel comfortable at school. Our wellbeing programme allows us to relax and relieve stress through meditation, and also teaches us relevant skills, such as time management, to help us be more efficient when it comes to school work. This special program makes YCIS unique amongst all other international schools in Shanghai!
