How Teachers at YCIS Have Helped Me, Academically and Beyond

    • For the past six years in which I have been attending YCIS, teachers have always been willing and disposed to assist me in any way. Whether it is related to academics or to something which extends beyond the classroom environment, teachers are always ready and pleased to help.

Regarding academics, my teachers have not only helped me clarify some concepts which I may not have fully understood, they have also been open to discussions about academic subject choices and other challenges which might arise within the classroom. As we have smaller class sizes, we are also able to have one-to-one conversations with our teachers; this can help us with other non-academic-related issues which are very common in middle school and high-school. As an example, I have been talking with various teachers about my university options and courses. What I love the most about our school is the fact that I can walk into a classroom or an office and am always able to find someone willing to answer my questions or help me solve a problem. Teachers at YCIS are available throughout the day to help and assist students. I sometimes come in before school starts to discuss a brief question before a test, or drop in quickly after school to confirm something for the evening's homework.

Apart from the above, teachers at our school also help you to push yourself outside of your comfort zone and try out new things. They are always there proposing new projects and recommending that you try out new activities. Teachers at YCIS are responsible for many of the activities that take place at the school, and very often they are the ones pushing the students to take initiative and be risk takers. However, on the other hand, teachers are also there to make sure that you do not overextend yourself and go overboard in both academics and extracurricular activities.

Teachers are an essential part of our daily life at school, and at YCIS they are also there to help you beyond the classroom environment. My teachers have definitely helped me grow, both as an individual and as a student, during my time in Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary.
