Sean, Year 11, Century Park Campus
I am currently in Year 11, and the past four-and-a-half-years that I have attended Yew Chung International School of Shanghai (YCIS) have resulted in my most enjoyable memories yet. Personally, I find the teachers at my school to be really kind and helpful. They are patient with their teaching and in their diligence to help us students achieve excellence in the subjects they teach.
Not only do I enjoy the classes with my teachers who spend their time helping me get through the IGCSE programme, I also feel blessed for the support I receive from them when I need further guidance on a topic.
One of the good things about a school like YCIS is the study sessions that the teachers arrange for the students. Personally, I often go to the maths study sessions. Whenever I have queries on a question, I can just pop into my math teacher’s room after school and we can work through problems step-by-step together. The teachers at YCIS are very supportive this way, and I find that this method helps students out greatly.
My Chinese teacher, Ms Qi, is one example of a great teacher. She often complements and motivates us with tempting prizes. We also have have fun debates and competitions in Chinese class so that students try their very best to do the tasks assigned. It doesn't take much effort to notice a good teacher. Teachers with the appropriate diligence, effort, and a heartfelt endeavour to teach students is what I look for in a school. That is what we have here and that is why I love my teachers at YCIS.
