Betty, Year 12, Gubei Campus
Over my years of attending YCIS I’ve changed for the better, not only as a person, but also academically. In the past, procrastination was a fault of mine, but I no longer procrastinate anymore. This is due to the fact that I’ve recently stepped into my last two years of high school and it’s been a reality check for me.
My teachers and parents have made it immensely clear how serious these two years of IB are, and how they define my university choices and therefore affect my future. I’m finally aware of the fact that working consistently hard and having enough sleep at night are big factors to succeeding in IB, and anywhere really.
We are all familiar with how students tell themselves that they are going to do better at the start of a year, and usually they do; however I’ve become conscious that I need to stay motivated throughout the whole school year. I’ve also found ways to improve in particular subjects by planning small meetings with my teachers, who are kind and supportive enough to always offer their help.
Overall, I’m really proud of myself for challenging some of my old habits so I can further grow and improve in IB. In all, this includes getting a better grasp on who I really am and where my future is heading.
