The recent Alliance for International Education (AIE) conference at YCIS was great! After some preparation ourselves, we met with all of the other students in attendance and we had a brainstorming session with Mr Dang from YCIS Hong Kong. We then went to the gym where we had our Youth Forum, discussing pre-written questions, as well as some that came from the conference’s audience (which was composed of teachers and principals). It was an amazing experience!
My classmate, Githu, and I presented on the environment and sustainable development as one of the biggest challenges regarding what schools can do to provide a better future for students. Although we were both a little nervous, we were the first to introduce ourselves. To be honest, I had a lot more to talk about but the time was limited and I didn’t want to interrupt or take away someone else’s chance to speak; therefore, we stuck with our key points and observations and listened to the local students’ perspectives.
The day proved to be a positive and engaging experience on sustainable development… Oh, and we also got to take a picture with Dr Betty Chan, YCIS’s Director, too (which was pretty cool)!
