The Chinese programme at YCIS sets it apart from the other international schools in Shanghai. Learning Chinese at YCIS helps my classmates and me gain a better understanding and perspective about the Eastern world, and it helps develop our cross-cultural thinking and open-mindedness.

I am currently a student in Year 11. I have been studying at the school for four years now and have always looked forward to my Chinese classes. Learning Chinese at YCIS has helped me to greatly develop my speaking and writing skills. My teachers are constantly encouraging me to speak in Chinese during class, and our classes are fun and enjoyable. The teachers are also very experienced and always prepared to teach something new every day. The curriculum selected and developed by teachers at YCIS is well-balanced between speaking and writing tasks. Discussions are common in our classes as students and teachers converse in Chinese about current issues in China and around the world. Overall, I think YCIS offers a really comprehensive Chinese language and culture programme, and I’m ready to grow my skills even further.
