Starting from August 1st, Ms. Sissy Shen and Ms. Jane Sun will take over as the Chinese Co-Principals of YCIS Shanghai Pudong and Puxi Campuses, respectively. With their rich experience in international education and excellent leadership skills, we believe that under their guidance, YCIS Shanghai will continue to flourish and move towards an even brighter future.

Ms. Sissy Shen 

Ms. Sissy Shen has been an integral part of the YCIS Pudong community for the past 15 years. Her unwavering dedication, passion, and hard work have earned her the trust and respect of the entire school community. Ms. Shen's contributions to the school over the years have been significant and invaluable. She has held several leadership positions, including Year Level Leader, Chinese Head of Primary, Professional Development Coordinator, Chinese Vice Principal of ECE and Primary and Chinese Assistant Co-Principal. During her time as an educator at YCIS she has also been awarded the YCYW Master Teacher status. In each of these roles, Ms. Shen has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and gained practical experience in various aspects of the school's operations.

Ms. Shen holds a Master's degree in international Chinese Language Education and is qualified as Psychological Consultant from East China Normal University. She is currently taking on her Doctorate in Education. Her background in psychology has driven her to promote the importance of holistic education that focuses not only on students’ academic achievements but also on their social and emotional development. Beyond school, she is also a member of the Council of International Schools (CIS) evaluation team and the external mentor to master’s degree students of East China Normal University. She is often invited to host workshops at various Chinese Language Education Conference.

Ms. Shen's professional interests include international education, curriculum development, pedagogics, teachers' professional learning, and cross-cultural leadership. Ms. Shen strives to use a collaborative approach to leadership, working to build trust with colleagues, students, and parents to build a well-rounded community for providing a high-quality education to our students.

Ms. Jane Sun

Jane holds a Master's degree in Chinese Language and Literature from East China Normal University, as well as a Master's degree in Education from Plymouth State University.

Jane has over 30 years of experience in education, from 1995-2005, she taught at YCIS-Shanghai both in our Primary and Secondary Sections. In 2005, she joined Shanghai American School (Pudong Campus) and served as their Chinese K-12 Coordinator and Global Language Coordinator. Having gained over 10 years of leadership experience, she returned to YCIS-Shanghai 2022-2023 school year as Vice Principal.

Jane is a certified IB Chinese A Language and Literature Examiner, and over the years, has taught a range of upper secondary programmes, including IB Chinese A Literature, IB Chinese A Language and Literature, IB Language B Chinese, IGCSE First Language Chinese and AP Chinese. She is a lifelong learner and regularly participates at academic conferences and workshops.

Ms. Jane Sun believes that a good teacher is a strong partner to students. Teacher's mission is more than just preparing teaching plans or teaching. Its aim is to counsel students, and inspire them to reach their full potential, so they can become valuable members of society.
