A talented group of Year 5 and 6 thespians at YCIS Puxi Primary took audiences back to the dawn of time during their recent production of the musical comedy Rock Bottom at the school’s Hongqiao Campus. 

Led by director Mr Leon Weeks, the prehistorical, hysterical rock musical introduced a host of Stone Age characters and powerful musical numbers, along with plenty of side-splitting jokes.

According to Mr Weeks, the show started with auditions back in September 2018. “The successful cast members then received their scripts and many rehearsals, both after school and during school ensued. The performers learnt their lines, the lyrics to a number of songs, a host of carefully choreographed moves, and developed their acting skills for the stage. The cast also benefited from the senior choir joining us at the beginning of February. This year, for the first time a group of Year 8s joined us to assist with stage management and performance elements.”

The students, Mr Weeks, and the entire crew wish to thank the audience that came both nights in support of their magical musical.
