Over the summer months, the school supporting division was hard at work on a number of renovation projects on all four campuses, with the last bit of polishing complete just before the start of the school year.
At the Century Park Campus, students are sure to be delighted by the new playground equipment that was installed, including a zip line and climbing frames. In addition, outside reading zones were created for the school entrance courtyard. The Design and Technology room was completely redesigned to benefit our budding engineers and designers, with a much brighter space for their ingenuity and creativity.
Similarly, a new recording studio in the music rooms will help bring to life the compositions of our many talented musicians. Another area of the campus that has a major facelift is the entrance to the gym, which now highlights the success of our fantastic sports teams and sports stars over the years.
Regency Park Campus also saw changes over the summer, and our youngest students will enjoy their brand new playground equipment, and parents will appreciate the fact that it features sunshades to help keep children safe. Sunshades were also added to the Primary playground, and lights were added to the campus buildings to allow weekend and after school activities to continue later in the day, supporting the huge interest from our community in our ever-expanded breadth of activities on campus.
Across the river, the Gubei Campus revamped the D Block to include a workout studio and drama classroom and, along with Hongqiao Campus, the buildings received special beautification projects to brighten up the space and to optimise the students’ learning for the new year ahead!
In addition, in Puxi, construction on our brand new YCIS Ronghua Campus was well underway this summer. This new campus will open for Early Childhood and Year 1 – 2 students in February 2018. Featuring an innovative “Learning Community” configuration, and designed by the globally recognised educational architectural firm, Fielding Nair International (FNI), the new space has unique, modifiable classrooms and multi-site teaching spaces, creating agile, learner-centred environments and fostering the enquiry-based learning environment in Early Childhood Education for which YCIS Shanghai is known. At YCIS, we continually upgrade the facilities at all of our campuses to ensure that we maintain the inspiring learning environment that makes our school so unique.
