Secondary students from YCIS’s Century Park campus recently “rocked out” for a good cause at the annual Heart to Heart “Battle of the Bands”. For the last four years, YCIS students have competed in the Shanghai-wide competition, showcasing their talents and performance abilities, their commitment to musicianship, and the benefits of the school’s music programme.

At this year’s event held at a complex in Jinqiao in Pudong, ten bands faced-off at the thrilling competition to raise money for the local Shanghai charity and for the opportunity to win fantastic prizes. Two Century Park Campus bands, “Before the Storm” and “6 Sleepless Nights”, entered the competition and performed their own unique sets made up of both original and cover songs, and “6 Sleepless Nights” was selected to receive the competition’s “Judges’ Choice Award”. The band will now have the chance to make a music video under the direction of some of Shanghai’s most renowned musicians, venue owners, and filmmakers.
