YCIS Shanghai Secondary Students were on show at the recent Shanghai Centre Family Fun Fair.
The second annual Fun Fair focused on healthy and fun activities for families, and as part of the day’s activities, two of YCIS’s best rock bands, the Fluffy Buffaloes and Zenith, performed before an enthusiastic crowd centre stage right on Nanjing Road. The two bands represent the school’s growing rock community, as evidenced by YCIS Shanghai’s yearly Battle of the Bands, which showcases the students’ passion for rock music.
According to Ms Sally Davis, Head of Performing Arts at YCIS Shanghai Gubei Campus, “Music is so engrained in the culture and energy of YCIS that it’s often hard to tell the difference between the actual music programme and student’s personal aspirations. By performing at local, family-focused events such as the Family Fun Fair, our students are able to practise their skills and talents outside the classroom, while providing enjoyable entertainment for the Shanghai community.”
In addition to the bands’ performances, YCIS had a booth at the Family Fun Fair to provide information about the school’s unique education programmes, including the Chinese language programme, arts and music, and character education.
