YCIS Shanghai faculty and staff were treated to sensational, delicious lunches held over two days this past month, thanks to the schools’ dedicated parents. Brought together by the YCIS Shanghai Parent Organisation Puxi (POP), parents at the Gubei and Hongqiao Campuses “took over” the staff room and filled the tables with delicious entrees, favourite snacks, and tempting desserts, as part of the Staff Appreciation Lunch.
Ms Mika Baba, an YCIS parent, explained that the event was a “splendid opportunity for parents to show our appreciation to teachers in a relaxed atmosphere. We don't have the opportunity to show our appreciation to staff on a daily basis, but appreciation is so important. So we'd like to say thank you.”
Another parent, Ms Isabelle Le Helloco, noted that, “This lunch for teachers and staff began five years ago and has become a tradition. At the end of the year, we take time to share our memories together, relax together, chat with teachers, and celebrate our friendships.”
The POP has had a very busy school year, with activities that ranged from language classes and travel advice sessions to creating and executing on large-scale events for the school, and raising funds for, and volunteering in, the community. The Parent Organisations at YCIS Shanghai have been key players in enriching the life of the school community, and they have already started planning some fantastic events for the 2013-2014 school year! Stay tuned for more fun ahead!
