On China’s Tree Planting Day which falls on March 12, YCIS Shanghai celebrated the occasion with members of the school's Ecology Action Team planting Fir trees on the campus grounds at both the Regency Park and Century Park campuses. Signs proclaiming “Trees are terrific!” and “We love trees!” were held aloft as the students took turns shoveling dirt over the sapling’s roots. This was the fifth annual tree-planting ceremony at Century Park Campus, and the second one at Regency Park.
Tree Planting Day or Arbor Day offers us a chance to think about the importance of nature to our survival and happiness, and it serves as a reminder that we all bear responsibility in caring for our environment. This experience helps the YCIS commitment to the environment to firmly take root in students, and they begin to understand that for humanity to thrive and grow, they must take an active part in protecting our environment.
