In April 2012, a group of YCIS students and teachers paid a visit to the children at the Minzhu Primary School in Anyue, Sichuan. The school was rebuilt with RMB 1.5 million yuan raised by the Sichuan Earthquake Educational Development (SEED) Operation which was formed by YCIS campuses in response to the devastating earthquake that hit Sichuan in 2008.
Students and teachers from YCIS Shanghai, Beijing and Chongqing spent two nights at Minzhu Primary School and provided music, art and sports workshops for the appreciative children. The most impressive was the way in which the YCIS students so easily connected with the local children through teaching them new skills, playing games and building friendships.
In the coming months, YCIS students and staff will present a variety of events focused upon raising funds for the establishment of the next Seeds of Hope School, in the town of Qufu in Shandong Province. It is a testament to the YCIS community’s ongoing support that we have achieved so much, and that we continue to strive in reaching our latest goal.
