It feels amazing to be part of such a friendly and compassionate community at YCIS Shanghai. Because YCIS is an international school, there are many people from a variety of different backgrounds and being part of this community has helped me connect with students and teachers from all over the world.

When studying, we have to work in groups and learn to collaborate and communicate with each other, which will help us a lot when we enter the job market in the future. Outside of the classroom, we help each other with homework, connect with one other, and grow academically.

There are some challenges to being in an international community. For example, there might be some language barriers between you and other students at first. However, that doesn’t stop anyone from learning to communicate through different means, overcoming these barriers, and becoming friends.

There are also people whose cultures are much different from yours, which sometimes could be a challenge because you don’t fully know their culture and traditions. However, this allows you to learn about their customs and get to know them better and expand your knowledge of the world. Every day at the school is a cultural learning experience!
