Shebri, Year 11, Century Park Campus

For those who don’t know, YCIS’s “Founder’s Day” is the day established in remembrance of our founder, Madam Tsang Chor-hang, and the origins of our school in Hong Kong, and it is celebrated by thousands of students, staff, and alumni at our schools all around the world.

While I have not been studying at YCIS for anywhere nearly as long as some of my classmates, to me, this occasion signifies the origins of the tight-knit community we have here at YCIS, and this day, to me and my fellow classmates, means a range of fun activities. This includes the Founder’s Day run, a trivia competition, and a school assembly spent communicating with various other YCIS schools. Naturally, the most anticipated of these activities is the three-and-a-half-kilometre Founder’s Day run at Shanghai’s Century Park, an event unique to our Century Park Campus. Conducted as a competitive event to earn students from different houses points in relation to their performance, the run is a major chance to score some points for your house!

After a few years here, I believe that Founder’s Day is a celebration of our school and its history, and it’s an event that I am certain will be continued as a tradition for many years to come.
