YCIS Student Wins National Children’s Story-telling Contest
As Yew Chung International Schools are preparing to celebrate their 80th Anniversary, students, teachers, and parents have all been wondering how to celebrate this monumental occasion. Tommaso Del Giudice from YCIS Shanghai gave us a good start.
Warm Welcome for New Parents at the YCIS Welcome BBQ’s
Just before the school year commenced, all new students and their families were warmly invited to attend the YCIS Welcome Barbecues in both Puxi and Pudong. There was fun for everyone, enjoying delicious food, games, activities, and a chance to connect with other new families and YCIS staff. Mr Tom Ulmet, Superintendent of YCIS in Mainland China, and the YCIS Shanghai Co-Principals and Co-ordinators were able to answer questions and get to know new families throughout a fun evening.
YCIS Provides Professional Development for Early Childhood Education Teachers
YCIS Shanghai hosted an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Conference at the start of August for all YCIS ECE staff. More than sixty ECE teachers and curriculum coordinators from YCIS Shanghai, YCIS Beijing, and YCIS Qingdao attended the conference at YCIS Shanghai Pudong Regency Park Campus.
IB Success: A Perfect Score!
For the second year in a row, a student of YCIS Shanghai Puxi Gubei Campus attained a perfect score of 45 on the IB Diploma. Celest Dines Muntaner, Valedictorian of the class of 2012, did so this time with a lot of work and perseverance. Celest led an especially strong class of students, who attained a 100% pass rate on the diploma with an average of 35 points per candidate (far exceeding last year’s world average of 29.6 points per candidate). The class of 2012 was also the largest group ever, with 62 students.
YCIS Receives “Cambridge Award for Excellence in Education”
Yew Chung International School (YCIS) has earned a top honour from University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). YCIS was presented with the “Cambridge Award for Excellence in Education” today in recognition of their longstanding commitment to providing a world-class, global education. Notably, they are the first and only group of schools in China to receive this award.
YCIS Fêtes America’s Birthday
YCIS was delighted to attend and support the American Chamber of Commerce of Shanghai’s annual Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, June 30 at a spacious park in Putuo District. With a diverse student body of over 50 nationalities, YCIS Shanghai celebrates many important holidays from different countries.
YCIS Shanghai Graduates Two Classes of 2012
The school campus was once again a sea of black caps and congratulatory bouquets as the classes of 2012 were conferred with their diplomas from YCIS Shanghai’s Gubei Campus and Century Park Campus.
Global Child Day Inspires Action
The annual, parent-run Global Child Day celebration was a huge success and attracted more than 1,000 students, parents, teachers and administrators who enthusiastically celebrated the rich cultural diversity that makes up the school’s Pudong community. Attendees got to sample flavourful national dishes, watch a colourful traditional dress parade and learn from informative displays at each booth that centred on this year’s theme, “One Person Can Make a Difference”.
Tremendous Progress for Hongqiao Campus’s New Building
Construction of the new C Building on YCIS Shanghai Hongqiao Campus is moving along as scheduled. Significant progress has been made with the subsurface structure and major floor level structures. The next stage will be focused on erecting the walls for different rooms.
