Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research – Team YCIS Makes a Difference!
This year’s Terry Fox Run was a great success for YCIS Shanghai and for the local community. More than 300 participants supported this global event to raise awareness and funds for cancer research projects.
Top Mark in the World for YCIS IGCSE Student
YCIS Shanghai Pudong Century Park Campus Co-Principals are very proud to announce that for the third consecutive year, a YCIS Shanghai student has achieved the "Highest mark in the World for Cambridge IGCSE Foreign Language Chinese Mandarin."
Swim Carnival – Fun and Games!
On October 11, 2012, 94 students from YCIS Shanghai Century Park Campus participated in the Annual YCIS Swimming Carnival. House spirit was definitely high, and the carnival went very well, with some students participating in numerous events. All those who participated made their Houses proud. IGCSE Visual & Performing Arts Showcase
On the evening of October 10, 2012, students, parents, teachers, and friends gathered in the Assembly Hall of YCIS Shanghai Gubei Campus for the inaugural IGCSE Visual & Performing Arts Showcase. This evening was a presentation of the gifted works from the recently completed IGCSE examinations in Art and Design, Design and Technology, Drama, and Music that highlight the school’s motto – YCIS will align with culture and arts – in our 80th anniversary.
Worms and the Science of Gardening
Students at YCIS Shanghai Century Park Campus have tended a small, school garden for four years. After watching the fruits of their labour grow, students have delighted in harvesting and eating radishes, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, and more.
Celebration of Founder’s Day kicks off YCIS 80th Anniversary Events
On Friday, September 21, 2012, YCIS Shanghai celebrated Founder's Day, which was established in remembrance of Yew Chung’s founder, Madam Tsang Chor-hang. The event also helped to launch the celebration of Yew Chung’s 80th anniversary, and was enjoyed by nearly 6,o00 students, 1,500 staff members, and YCIS alumni at all YCIS campuses across Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Chongqing, Qingdao, Yantai and Shenzhen, along with Silicon Valley in the US, to honour the milestone, and to highlight the school's spirit of success, achievement, and integration.
Festive Afternoon at YCIS Back-to-School Carnival
With the start of the school year well underway, YCIS families enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate together at the 11th annual Back-to-School Carnival at YCIS Shanghai Puxi Gubei Campus on Saturday, September 15. Students, parents, friends, and families enjoyed a fun-filled Fair, complete with delicious food, exciting games, raffles and prizes.
Pouring a Cup of “Welcome Tea”
YCIS Shanghai places great value on the relationship with parents, and encourages their involvement at the school. On August 27 - 29, YCIS Shanghai invited all new parents to “Welcome Tea” morning sessions across all campuses. The families were able to meet Co-Principals, Co-ordinators, and Parent Relations Officers, and to hear presentations on the philosophies and objectives of the school. A number of local Shanghai-based medical and community-related services were also present to give helpful information about their organisations to new families settling into Shanghai.
