90 seconds walk through – to honour a nearly 90 years old Yew Chung ECE
Founder’s Day, which is on October 9 this year, is a day we commemorate Madam Tsang Chor-hang, the founder of Yew Chung and Yew Wah schools. In 1932, with the mission of “honouring China”, Madam Tsang established a kindergarten in Hong Kong. Learning Communities: Pioneers of the 21st Century
When Yew Chung International School of Shanghai (YCIS Shanghai) opened its doors in 1993, it was the city’s first independent international school to be officially recognised by and registered with the local government. Fast-forward 27 years and dozens of international schools and even more bilingual and private Chinese schools have entered the city’s highly competitive market.
Celebrating 88 Years of Pioneering Education and Community Building
In 1932, Madam Tsang Chor-hang founded Yew Chung International School (YCIS) in Hong Kong. During the 80th anniversary of YCIS, eight years ago, the concept of Founder’s Day was born. Now, on the first Friday after the October holiday each year, the schools across the entire YCIS and Yew Wah International Education Schools (YWIES) global network join together for Founder's Day to commemorate and honour Madam Tsang.
Students Explore Careers in Healthcare During Summer Holidays
YCIS Shanghai is committed to helping students explore options for their future studies, careers, and development, preparing them for their journey beyond life at the school. Our University Guidance Office (UGO) provides support for students and their families, as well as internship placements. In Year 11, as part of a University Guidance class, students investigate careers, prepare their resumes, and strengthen their interview skills. They then have the opportunity to apply for the YCIS Internship Programme. Students also have the chance to attend external programmes offered in various industries.
Thank You, Our Wonderful Teachers!
On September 10, 2020, the YCIS Shanghai community celebrated China's 36th annual 'Teachers' Day'. China has a long tradition of honouring teachers and, in 1985, the Chinese government established Teachers’ Day as an official holiday to recognise the invaluable work of educators.
An Artistic Summer at YCIS Shanghai
As part of YCIS Shanghai’s holistic art programme, having Artists-in-Residence (AIR) at our campuses provides students with the opportunity to collaborate with professional artists on projects that encourage learning and creativity. During the summer break, as part of YCIS Shanghai’s Extended Learning Summer Programme, students could attend additional Art classes with the AIR at both Puxi and Pudong campuses.
