On Thursday, June 18, YCIS Shanghai hosted its second Live Stream discussion as part of the new YCTalks Series. During the talk, "Navigating University Applications Processes in 2020 and Beyond," speakers Mr John Liu and Ms Luciene Hang talked about the University Guidance programme and alumni network at YCIS Shanghai, as well as discussing the challenges and changes that have resulted from the current COVID-19 situation. Students Hit High Notes in YCEF Music Competition
YCIS Shanghai students achieved outstanding results in this year’s Yew Chung Education Foundation (YCEF) Young Musicians – Music Competition. Almost 400 applicants from across the YCEF network participated, with 96 making it to the final rounds.
YCIS Shanghai Students Recognised for Writing Excellence
One of the pillars of the English Language and Literature programme at YCIS Shanghai is writing. When given the opportunity, students are encouraged to write for a real-life audience, which helps them to visualise who they are writing for and gives their writing an authentic feel.
Sunny Campuses Full of Joy as Year 5–9 Students Return
This week, students from Years 5–9 were welcomed back to YCIS Shanghai’s sunny campuses, joining their older peers from Years 10–13 who had recently returned to school (Click here to review the article). In Time of Need, Music and Charity Are the Answer
Part of the YCIS school motto states that Yew Chung will "align with arts and charity". Students at YCIS Shanghai endeavour to embody the school’s mission in many ways throughout their time at the school. Recently, students at YCIS Shanghai Puxi and YCIS Shanghai Pudong have been coming up with creative and caring ways to make the most out of the current COVID-19 situation.
Safeguarding and Protecting Students First and Foremost
At YCIS Shanghai, the creation and maintenance of a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment and the welfare of all students is of paramount importance to the school community. The school fully recognises its responsibilities regarding child protection and is committed to providing education and support to students, parents, and teachers in all aspects of safeguarding. During the e-learning period, YCIS Shanghai staff have continued to undertake child protection and safeguarding training and adhere to all established protocols, albeit in a digital setting. YCIS Shanghai Child Protection Officers Ms Lucia Hu and Ms Laura Muir (YCIS Shanghai Pudong), along with Ms Jana van Zyl and Ms Lauren Rogers (YCIS Shanghai Puxi), describe the measures in place at the school to maintain these high standards.
