Past. Present. Future. Alumni for Life
Over the past few years, Yew Chung and Yew Wah (YCYW) schools have been seeking more and more opportunities to engage with former students who have graduated and moved on to pursue their studies in top universities or begun their careers around the world. YCYW alumni are already having an impact and are leaders in their respective industries.

Imagination is a fundamental component of childhood and crucial for a child’s development. It helps children acquire many lifelong skills, equipping them with the psychological and emotional capacities they will need as adults. At YCIS Shanghai, creativity is encouraged at every year level, to give our students the opportunities to grow, learn, and imagine.
YCIS Connected: Strengthening Bonds through Community Events
Maintaining open communication and relationships with parents and supporting their involvement and interest in being part of the school community, is highly valued at our school. Each year, YCIS Shanghai follows a theme, and for 2020–21 it is ‘YCIS Connected’ which, among many other initiatives, includes a series of information sessions, workshops, and webinars for parents of ECE, Primary, and Secondary students alike.
1200+ YCYW Educators Meet for E-learning Development
To highlight and promote good practices in teaching, Yew Chung and Yew Wah held an "E-Learning Professional Development Days" event on November 27-28, 2020. Speaking at the opening, CEO and School Supervisor Dr Betty Chan Po-king, described the changes sweeping education the world over as “unprecedented". “It is up to us to adapt our educational practices to ensure that our students can learn successfully using 21st century tools at our disposal,” she said.
Seeing the world through different eyes
On Wednesday, December 2, YCIS Puxi celebrated the opening of its third annual schoolwide photo exhibition. This year’s theme, ‘Our Community: Inside and Out,’ was an artistic reflection on the trying times we are currently living in and a statement about our resilience as a community.
Diplomats in the Making: YCIS Students Shine at UN Simulation
YCIS Shanghai Secondary students have a fantastic opportunity to participate in the Model United Nations (MUN) Co-Curricular Activity. MUN is a simulation and academic competition where students from all over the world learn about diplomacy, international relations, and a vast array of global issues. Students research a given country, attend weekly meetings to develop their understanding of regional and global politics and then attempt to tackle complex problems to create a better future for our world.
