We're Back! Upper Secondary Students Reunited on Campus
Since the COVID-19 outbreak in January, YCIS Shanghai students have been studying remotely from various locations around the world. Now that the situation in Shanghai is getting better, most of our students are back in the city and ready to get back to campus. After successful rounds of government inspections, the school has now started to resume classes on our Puxi and Pudong campuses, and students are beginning to return. This week, students from Years 10-13 and their teachers were the first to come back.
First, on Tuesday morning, came the Year 11 and 13 students, followed by their peers from Years 10 and 12 on Thursday. There was a delightful feeling on the YCIS Puxi Secondary (Gubei) Campus and YCIS Pudong Century Park Campus on these days, with students thrilled to see their friends and teachers and to experience face-to-face learning once again after months of online classes. The students shared their stories of where they had been and how they had spent their time away, and they all started to get used to the new changes implemented at school.
As health, safety, and well-being of all students, staff, and community members are so important at YCIS Shanghai, the students were guided through the steps and security measures in place to maintain consistent and stringent health and safety protocols across all of our school campuses. Although unfamiliar, the students understand that processes such as checks upon entry to campus, new classroom layouts, distance while eating in the cafeteria, and wearing masks in school all help to ensure that everyone can learn, work, and develop in the best possible environment.
In the following weeks, Primary students from Year 5-6 and all other Secondary year levels will gradually return to campus and experience school life once more, and everyone is excited to feel the energy of our busy campuses return! We warmly welcome back all of the Upper Secondary students and look forward to seeing those students from Years 5 and above in school in the coming weeks!
